Description
.270 WinchesterĀ 140 Grain Nosler Hunting Ballistic Tip~Ā TheĀ .270 WinchesterĀ (or 6.8Ć64mm) was developed byĀ Winchester Repeating Arms CompanyĀ in 1923 and unveiled in 1925 as a chambering for theirĀ bolt-actionĀ Model 54.Ā The cartridge is aĀ necked downĀ .30-03, which is the same length as theĀ .280 Remington, both of which are longer than theĀ .30-06 Springfield.Ā The .270 Winchester became a very popular cartridge due to the widespread praises of gunwriters like Townsend Whelen andĀ Jack OāConnorĀ who used the cartridge for 40 years and touted its merits in the pages ofĀ Outdoor Life.Ā The cartridge demonstrated high performance at the time of its introduction and was marketed as being suitable for big game shooting in the 270 to 460 metres (300 to 500Ā yd) range. Two additional bullet weights were soon introduced: a 6.5 grams (100Ā gr) hollow-point bullet forĀ varmintĀ shooting, and a 9.7 grams (150Ā gr) bullet for largerĀ deer,Ā elk, andĀ mooseĀ in big-game hunting.

The Bullet
Whether youāre after Whitetails, Blacktails, Mulies or Pronghorns, Ballistic Tip bullets deliver the kind of accuracy, consistency and down-range punch required for putting down that buck in any situation. The combination of performance and versatility that Nosler has built into these bullets has resulted in over 25 years of successful hunts for sportsmen across the country ā and around the world.
These bullets deliver the accuracy, consistency and down-range punch required for clean kills in all situations. These flat-shooting, wind-defying bullets utilize ballistic-designed boat-tails and polymer tips to increase long-range efficiency and protect against tip damage in the magazine. The heavy jacket base prevents bullet deformation during firing and holds together at extreme velocities as well as a polycarbonate tip that resists deformation in the magazine and initiates expansion upon impact. The unique tapered jacket provides controlled expansion at all practical ranges and velocities.
