  • .357 Magnum 125 Grain Hornady XTP~ Hornady XTP Bullets feature a performance-improved point that has 6 precise folds to divide the bullet into symmetrical sections and initiate controlled expansion at low velocities while not fragmenting at higher velocities. They expand reliably at a wide range of velocities for a deep, terminal penetration with every shot.

Designed for hunting, self-defense and law enforcement applications, the XTP bullet demonstrates the kind of accuracy that led many competitive shooters to adopt it. Reliable performance makes the XTP the most popular handgun bullet for both target shooters and hunters. But it’s the stopping power of the XTP bullet that has truly built its world-class reputation. From the onset, XTP bullets were specifically designed to expand reliably at a wide range of handgun velocities to deliver deep penetration with every shot.

    Product Features

    CONTROLLED EXPANSION

Precise serrations divide the XTP® into symmetrical sections, strategically weakening the jacket and initiating controlled expansion even at low velocities.

    NO EXPOSED LEAD

The gilding metal jacket protects the nose of the bullet, so the hollow cavity functions properly on impact and ensures proper feeding in semi-automatics.

    SWAGED CORE

Total uniformity of core density ensures balanced expansion as well as in-flight stability.

    DRAWN GILDING METAL JACKET

Expansion is controlled by varying jacket thickness down the length of the XTP, providing a definite advantage over plated bullets which have a uniform jacket thickness over the entire bullet.

These high-performance rounds provide excellent reliability, consistency, accuracy, penetration and stopping power for personal protection.

  • .357 Magnum 125 Grain Hi-Tek Coated RNFP~ Our coated bullets have become such a hit with our “Cowboy Choice” line, we decided to introduce these tremendously popular bullets into our “Range Choice” lines of ammunition! • .357 Magnum 180 Grain WFN with Gas Check Bear Defense- The .357 S&W Magnum, or simply .357 Magnum, is a cartridge with a .357-inch bullet diameter. It was created by Elmer Keith, Phillip B. Sharpe, and D. B. Wesson of firearms manufacturers Smith & Wesson and Winchester. It is based upon Smith & Wesson’s earlier .38 Special cartridge. The .357 Magnum cartridge was introduced in 1934, and its use has since become widespread. This cartridge started the “Magnum era” of handgun ammunition.

The .357 Magnum cartridge is notable for its highly effective terminal ballistics when used for hunting or defense.

The .38 Special nomenclature relates to the previous use of heeled bullets (such as the .38 Short Colt and .38 Long Colt), which were the same diameter as the case. The only external dimensional difference between .38 Special and .357 magnum is the difference in case length; this was done to prevent accidentally loading a .357 magnum cartridge in to a .38 Special revolver that isn’t designed for the .357 magnum’s higher chamber pressure.

This cartridge is regarded by many as an excellent hunting, metallic silhouette and self-defense round. With this load, it is effective against large or dangerous game, such as bear, however, many consider the larger and more powerful magnum cartridges to be more appropriate such as the .500 S&W Magnum460 S&W Magnum, .44 Magnum.454 Casull.41 Magnum as well as other larger magnum rounds. Please look at our Choice Bear Defense rounds in these calibers as well.

We feel our 100% hand-loading techniques and proprietary formulas produce the most reliable, consistent and accurate round on the commercial market today. Choice Ammunition emulates the same process passionate loaders do in their own loading rooms across the country. Hand-Loaded ammunition simply performs better than “factory” ammunition for a number of reasons. Why compromise with this Bear Defense Load when a premium product such as this is available competitively priced? Please try Choice Ammunition! This 180 grain “HARD” (22 BHN) WFN with gas check cast lead bullet is designed for deep penetration and bone-crushing stopping power for the most critical of times.

  • .357 SIG 100 grain HBRN~ The .357 SIG pistol cartridge (designated as the 357 Sig by the SAAMI is the product of manufacturer SIG Sauer in cooperation with Federal Cartridge It is used by a number of law enforcement agencies and has a good reputation of accuracy. Developed in 1994, the new cartridge was named “357” to highlight its purpose: to duplicate the performance of 125-grain .357 Magnum loads fired from 4-inch (100 mm)-barreled revolvers in a cartridge designed to be used in a semi-automatic pistol with greater ammunition capacity than a revolver.

Because of its relatively high velocity for a handgun round, the .357 SIG has an unusually flat trajectory, extending the effective range. However, it does not quite reach the performance of the .357 Magnum with bullets heavier than 125 grains (8.1 g). Offsetting this general slight disadvantage in performance is that semi-automatic pistols tend to carry considerably more ammunition than revolvers.

The Virginia State Police has reported that attacking dogs have been stopped dead in their tracks by a single shot, whereas the former 147 grain 9 mm duty rounds would require multiple shots to incapacitate the animals. Proponents of the hydrostatic shock theory contend that the energy available in the .357 SIG is sufficient for imparting hydrostatic shock with well-designed bullets. Users have commented, “We’re really impressed with the stopping power of the .357 SIG round.”

The bottleneck shape of the .357 SIG cartridge makes feeding problems almost non-existent. This is because the bullet is channeled through the larger chamber before being seated entirely as the slide goes into full battery. Flat point bullets are seldom used with other autoloader firearms because of feeding problems; however, such bullets are commonly seen in the .357 SIG chambering and are quite reliable, as are hollow-point bullets.

Plated hollow base bullets are designed for shooters who need increased accuracy. The hollow base allows the bullet profile to be longer and provides more contact area with the barrel and rifling to stabilize the bullet and improve accuracy. These high-performance plated rounds provide excellent reliability, consistency and accuracy for Range and Practice time for this caliber. While not the least expensive 9mm ammunition on the market, our tight loading tolerances, visual inspection and premium performance sets our products apart from other import and “factory” loaded ammunition! For a few cents more, make every shot count!

Thank you for visiting Choice Ammunition!Home of Premium Ammunition- 100% Hand-Loaded in Western Montana.

As you may know, the ammunition and firearms industry is experiencing unprecedented times beginning with COVID 19 coming from China in early 2020. Some talked of defunding police departments about the same time, even as riots and lawlessness raged on in our cities with unrest. We then saw a very contentious presidential campaign and ultimately- an inauguration of what could be a very unfriendly 2nd Amendment administration controlling both houses of Congress. For these reasons and more, we see demand at all time highs in the industry, in addition to mass shortages of components. I personally do not see things changing any time soon either...

With this, we are doing everything possible to hand-load and get products shipped in a timely manner, but we cannot simply turn machines up like others! Any back-orders on this website that we allow, we feel will ship in a reasonable period of time and we are averaging about 2-3 weeks presently. However, we are reliant on our suppliers to deliver components to us also, and that can unexpectedly be delayed on occasion. When this happens, it is possible to see 30-60 days, and sometimes more- to get ammunition sent out to you. Please know, all backorders will be filled at the price you purchased the ammunition for. If you find something elsewhere- we are happy to cancel any order.

We try to answer all office calls and prefer calls over emails or social media. We ask you to please refrain from calling or changing your order unless it is absolutely necessary- keeping in mind the time-frames I mentioned above. Every call we answer removes the focus on sourcing components and loading/shipping your ammunition!  We promise to get your order out as soon as we possibly can- yet, ask that you please understand this crazy market we are all in- if indeed you are delayed!

We do not believe in price gouging or increasing margins in a market such as this- and we will do everything possible to remain competitive with “factory” ammo, while providing our premium hand-loaded ammunition to the market. It does appear that prices may increase this year however, as there is much volatility in pricing for our brass, bullets, powder and primers.

Thank you for considering Choice Ammunition if you are a new customer- and thank you for another order if you are returning. We truly appreciate all of you and have built our business from going the extra mile with our products and for our customers!
