  • .375 Winchester 200 Grain Round Nose- TheĀ .375 WinchesterĀ is a modernized version of theĀ .38-55 Winchester, aĀ black powderĀ cartridgeĀ from 1884. It was introduced in 1978 along with theĀ WinchesterĀ Model 94Ā ā€œBig Boreā€Ā lever action rifle, which was in production from 1978 until 1986.

Though very similar in appearance to the .38-55 Winchester parent cartridge, the .375 Winchester cartridge has a shorter case length and operates at a higher chamber pressure of 52,000 CUP or 55,000 psi, compared to the .38-55 Winchester cartridge which has a longer case length and operates at a lower chamber pressure of 30,000 CUP or 35,000 psi.

The most commonly used bullet weights for the .375 Winchester are between 180 gr to 260 gr and has been used on a variety of medium to large game species such as whitetail, pronghorn, caribou, elk, moose, black bear, and brown bear.

Choice Ammunition loads the .375 Winchester with the same 100% hand-loading techniques as our other calibers. Our loading techniques and extremely tight tolerances are only matched by passionate hand-loaders in their own loading rooms. Our consistencies box to box and lot to lot, are created by continuous testing at the range- adjusting varied powder and brass lot formulas to match exact velocities and points of impact as the last time we loaded this caliber. Exact seating depths and our proprietary load formulas produce a round of ammunition you can count on for accuracy and dependability each and every time- and at that critical moment in the field when it all comes down to the shot!

    The Bullet:

Hawk BulletsĀ is the original developer and producer of “SOFT”ā„¢ copper jacketed hunting bullets. We began doing research on hunting bullet design in 1987, and soon learned that even with the additional production difficulties and added cost, the soft jacket had several advantages, and is well worth the extra work.

Most hunters pay little regard to bullet selection, focusing instead on greater muzzle velocities, how awesome the loaded round appears, the name on the rifle, etc. But itā€™s the bullet that kills game. Few accept the fact that a huntā€™s final results rest on a few cents worth of lead and gilding metal.

The perfect bullet should expand soon after entering and retain a mushroom shape throughout the entire animal. In addition to the damage caused from the bulletā€™s path, a properly mushroomed bullet will reverberate a hydro-shock extending out to other tissue and organs. Our “soft”ā„¢ jackets stay together, even with 3 diameters of expansion. They stretch and flow to support the mushrooming lead core, keeping the bullet intact even in extreme deformation or expansion. “Soft”ā„¢ jacket bullets expand to 2-3 diameters, thus producing larger wound channels and more one-shot hunts, yet they retain 80-95% of their original weight to punch deep into their target.
