  • .44 Magnum 240 Grain RNFP– Elmer Keith, championed the concept of higher powered big-bore revolvers with Smith & Wesson and Remington Arms, eventually leading to the development of the .357, .41, and .44 Magnums. Keith’s suggested designation for the proposed .44 caliber round was the “.44 Special Magnum,” but when Remington Arms developed the cartridge they chose to name it the .44 Remington Magnum. Nonetheless, the new cartridge was developed directly from the .44 Special design by simply lengthening the older case by .125 inch. Remington’s stated rationale for the making of this change was to preclude higher pressured Magnum loads from being chambered in .44 Special revolvers.

With our 100% hand-loading techniques- We place the same care and passion into each and every round produced as those do in their own private loading rooms. These techniques produce the most reliable, accurate round of ammunition available on the market today!

    The Bullet-

The lead round nose flat point bullet – also known as LRN-FP or the “cowboy bullet” – is one of the oldest bullet types to remain popular today. This particular bullet has been in use since the late 1800s, and was perfect for pistols, but it was shaped in such a way that it also worked for lever-action rifles like the famous Henry repeater rifles.

The early bullet makers had problems getting the basic round noses to feed properly, and the solution was found by cutting the tip off. Depending on where you live and what gun historian you speak to, this story will have different people involved, but it boils down to getting a reliable bullet that didn’t jam or misfire as much as early designs. Over time, as bullet and casing technology improved, other more advanced bullets showed up. But these lead round nose flat point rounds remain popular to this day – over 100 years later.

  • .357 Magnum 158 Grain Semi-Wadcutter (SWC)~The .357 S&W Magnum, or simply .357 Magnum, is a revolver cartridge with a .357-inch bullet diameter. It was created by Elmer Keith, Phillip B. Sharpe, and D. B. Wesson of firearms manufacturers Smith & Wesson and Winchester. It is based upon Smith & Wesson’s earlier .38 Special cartridge. The .357 Magnum cartridge was introduced in 1934, and its use has since become widespread. This cartridge started the “Magnum era” of handgun ammunition.

Choice Ammunition produces range, hunting, cowboy action and self defense rounds in the .357 Magnum. Our 100% hand-loading process produces the most reliable, safe and accurate round on the commercial market today.

The .357 Magnum cartridge is notable for its highly effective terminal ballistics when used for hunting or defense. This cartridge is regarded by many as an excellent hunting, metallic silhouette and self-defense round. With proper loadings it can also be effective against large or dangerous game, such as bear and ungulates, however many consider the larger magnum calibers to be more appropriate such as the .500 Smith & Wesson, .50 Action Express, .44 Magnum, .454 Casull, .41 Magnum as well as other larger magnum rounds. Comparatively, the .357 Magnum has less energy than the larger magnum revolver loadings but is smaller in diameter with high velocity allowing for excellent penetration properties. It is a fine small- and medium-game round and is sufficient to hunt deer at reasonable ranges if suitable loadings are used by a competent marksman. For further comparison, the .357 Magnum has a higher velocity at 100 yards than its parent .38 Special has at the muzzle. The 357 Magnum’s effectiveness on game is similar to that of the .45 Colt, but with a much flatter trajectory due to its higher velocity. It is a very versatile cartridge, and can be used with success for self-defence, plinking, hunting, or target shooting.

    The Bullet:

.357 Magnum 158 Grain Semi-Wadcutter (SWC)~ A bullet design that used to rule the roost but today is certainly underutilized is the semi wadcutter. The semiwadcutter is something of a middle ground between hard bullets such as full metal jacket and hard-cast rounds and softer and expanding rounds such as soft-cast and hollow point rounds.A Semi-Wadcutter bullet perfect for target shooting and plinking. The nose and sharp should allow the bullet to punch a clean hole through paper targets making scoring simple and precise.

A semi-wadcutter or SWC is a type of all-purpose bullet commonly used in revolvers. The SWC combines features of the wadcutter target bullet and traditional round nosed revolver bullets, and is used in cartridges for hunting, target shooting, and plinking.

  • .45 Long Colt 180 Grain RNFP Lead Cowboy Action– With our 100% hand-loading techniques- We place the same care and passion into each and every round produced as those do in their own private loading rooms. These techniques produce the most reliable, accurate round of ammunition available on the market today! The .45 Long Colt “Cowboy Choice” line is developed for Cowboy Action Shooters by Cowboy Action (SASS) Shooters! Our mild shooting Cowboy Action line meets SASS Power Factors, yet are a pleasure to shoot in repetition with minimal kick back or recoil.

The .45 Long Colt gun cartridge dates to 1872 and started out as a round designed for the Colt Single Action Army revolver. In fact, many .45 Long Colt guns today are replicas of the Colt Single Action Army revolver. Often marketed as a magnum-handgun hunting round, one of the most common uses of .45 Long Colt ammo today is in Cowboy Action Shooting. Hunters sometimes also use .45 Long Colt revolvers and some derringers (generally for collections or self-defense) that are chambered for the .45 Long Colt cartridge as well. Companies such as Winchester, Rossi, Uberti, and the Henry Repeating Arms company also produce lever-action .45 Long Colt rifles. Hunters and shooters will enjoy the vintage feel of the .45 Long Colt rifle, with its long history of use in the Army and was used for hunting or self-defense in the Old West. With their rich history, .45 Long Colt guns offer both modern functionality and fun for collectors, Cowboy Action shooters, and reenactors.

This .45-caliber has long been considered “the gun that won the West.”   Noted for its power and reliability, it was the most popular full sized revolver of the late 1800s.  Turned out by the Colt Fire Arms Manufacturing Company of Hartford, Connecticut, it sold for $17 by mail order.  A classic single action revolver, it remains in production today.

The model 1873 revolver, commonly known as the Colt Single Action, Peacemaker, or Frontier, was actually developed in 1872, based on the patents granted to Charles B. Richards and W. Mason. In 1873, the US Army adopted this revolver along with its black powder centerfire cartridge of .45 caliber, and issued it to troops in 2 models.

Speer created its first bullet more than 70 years ago, and today, the company still manufactures superior components, such as Speer TNT Varmint Bullets. Specific to varmint shooting, these bullets are a cut above the rest.

TNT gives you what you want most-superior on-game performance. Starting with TNT’s thin precision jacket, Speer added internal fluting and a dead-soft lead core to ensure complete bullet disruption. Speer finishes the forming with a long ogive and a small hollow point. This gives you the ballistic coefficients needed for long shots. In fact, TNT’s coefficients rival those of similar boat tail bullets. In a little over ten years, TNT has become a best seller. Why? Great accuracy and impressive terminal performance. These TNT Bullets are explosive and accurate. TNT gives you what you want most—superior on-game performance. A thin precision jacket and internal fluting ensures complete bullet disruption. Product Features

    CONTROLLED EXPANSION

Precise serrations divide the XTP® into symmetrical sections, strategically weakening the jacket and initiating controlled expansion even at low velocities.

    NO EXPOSED LEAD

The gilding metal jacket protects the nose of the bullet, so the hollow cavity functions properly on impact and ensures proper feeding in semi-automatics.

    SWAGED CORE

Total uniformity of core density ensures balanced expansion as well as in-flight stability.

    DRAWN GILDING METAL JACKET

Expansion is controlled by varying jacket thickness down the length of the XTP, providing a definite advantage over plated bullets which have a uniform jacket thickness over the entire bullet.

These high-performance rounds provide excellent reliability, consistency, accuracy, penetration and stopping power for personal protection.
