    The Berger VLD design incorporates a sharp nose that allows the bullet to penetrate 2″ to 3″ before it starts to expand. After the initial expansion, the bullet will shed between 40% and 85% of its weight as shrapnel into the surrounding tissue (internal organs). The combination between the shrapnel and the hydrostatic shock produces a massive wound cavity within the vital area that will be 13″ – 15″ long.Ā This massive wound cavity results in the animal dropping fast since most go into shock after such a tremendous blow. Those animals that donā€™t go down immediately will soon succumb to blood pressure loss and/or organ failure producing a quick ethical kill.

    Partition Bullets feature a fully tapered jacket that ruptures instantly at the thin jacket mouth, yet the gradual thickening along the bulletā€™s axis controls expansion and curls the jacket uniformly outward at high or low velocities. Noslerā€™s integral Partition supports the expanded mushroom and retains the rear lead alloy core. The enclosed rear core retains more than half the original bullet weight for deep penetration. The special crimp locks in the rear core section, adding strength to resist deformation under the pressure of heavy magnums.This makes this round no match for Deer, Sheep, Pronghorn and Black Bear and other medium-sized game.

The Partitionā€™s fully tapered copper jacket gradually thickens along the bulletā€™s axis, controlling the coreā€™s mushroom for controlled, uniform expansion. An integral partition separates the bulletā€™s two cores, holding two-thirds of the bulletā€™s original weight in the rear core to fuel a deep penetration every time. Special crimp locks help the bullet resist deformation, even with the heaviest of magnum loads. Each Partition bullet is designed by Nosler engineers to give you the optimum length, weight, and ogive design for each caliber to give you maximum flight and terminal performance. Minimum impact velocity: 1800 fps.Ā There arenā€™t a lot of true disadvantages to this bullet because it is truly ā€œdebuggedā€ technology. Newer bullets are very specialized for certain uses ā€“ some are for large game, some are for long range, and some are just for penetration or expansion.
