.45 COLT 250 GRAIN Nosler JHP Sporting Handgun- The .45 Colt cartridge, which is sometimes called .45 Long Colt, .45 LC, is a handgun cartridge dating to 1872. It was originally a black-powder revolver round developed for the Colt Single Action Army revolver. This cartridge was adopted by the U.S. Army in 1873 and served as an official US military handgun cartridge for 14 years. While it is sometimes referred to as .45 Long Colt or .45 LC, to differentiate it from the very popular and ubiquitous .45 ACP, and historically, the shorter .45 S&W Schofield, it was only an unofficial designation by Army quartermasters. Current catalog listings of compatible handguns list the caliber as .45 LC and .45 Colt.

The .45 Colt became the basis for the much more powerful .454 Casull cartridge, with the .454 Casull having a slightly longer case utilizing a small rifle primer in place of the large pistol primer. Any .454 Casull revolver will chamber and fire .45 Colt and .45 Schofield, but not the inverse due to the Casull’s longer case. The .460 S&W Magnum is a longer version of the .454 Casull and the .45 Colt. Likewise, .460 Magnum revolvers can chamber and fire the three lesser cartridges, but again, not the reverse.

We load each round individually, with the same passion and dedication only found in individual loading rooms and benches across the country.  This loading process by Choice Ammunition, along with this Hornady XTP bullet will provide you with a round of ammunition you can count on with “uncompromised Precision” and “Uncompromised Reliability”.

The Bullet-

Whether you punch paper, shoot steel or use your handgun for hunting, Nosler ensures you have the very finest in accuracy, consistency and overall quality. Designed to expand rapidly upon impact, the pure lead core is copper-alloy jacketed for maximum bullet stability and balance while further enhancing accuracy. • .45 Long Colt 180 Grain Hi-Tek Coated RNFP~ Our coated bullets have become such a hit with our “Cowboy Choice” line, we decided to introduce these tremendously popular bullets into our “Range Choice” lines of ammunition! Our range ammunition is produced with the same loading process as anything we do- 100% Hand-Loaded techniques producing the tightest loading tolerances in the industry, which equates to superior reliability and accuracy!

We use a unique heat-set “HI-TEK Supercoat” manufactured in Australia, where it has been used for more than 20 years. The Hi-Tek Supercoat Bullet Coating totally encapsulates the lead projectiles and replaces standard wax lube.
Hi-Tek Supercoat bullets are safe to shoot indoors.  The coating gives off no toxic out-gassing or particulate matter when fired. The coating is absolutely non abrasive and contains no PTFE or MOLY. There is no wax lube and it minimizes your exposure to lead. The end result is cleaner air, cleaner hands, cleaner equipment and cleaner guns!
Check out a video of the Hi-Tek coating process here and see why you might want us to do it for you (but it’s worth it)!!
