.223 Remington 55 Grain Nosler Varmageddon Tipped~ The development of the cartridge which eventually became the .223 Remington was intrinsically linked to the development of a new lightweight combat rifle. The cartridge and rifle were developed by Fairchild Industries, Remington Arms and several engineers working toward a goal developed by U.S. Continental Army Command (CONARC). Early development work began in 1957. A project to create a small caliber high velocity (SCHV) firearm was created. Eugene Stoner of ArmaLite was invited to scale down the AR-10 (7.62 mm) design. Winchester was also invited to participate. The parameters requested by CONARC were:

The Bullet: Nosler’s Varmageddon bullets are designed with the needs of high-volume varmint hunters in mind. The flat-based bullets feature an ultra-thin jacket mouth and specially designed jacket wall to ensure utmost integrity during flight, while delivering devastating fragmentation on impact. Specifically designed to be the end of the world for any varmint in its path! We offer this round in both the Hollow Point- as well as this Polymer Tip in Nosler Varmageddon.
270 Winchester Short Magnum 130 grain Berger VLD-Hunting~ The 270 Winchester Short Magnum or 270 WSM is a short, unbelted, magnum cartridge created by necking down the .300 Winchester Short Magnum and fitting it with a .277 caliber bullet. The correct name for the cartridge, as listed by the Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers’ Institute (SAAMI), is 270 WSM, without a decimal point. When it was introduced, the 300 WSM sported a new case that showed a lot of promise for uses in other calibers. In 2002 Winchester introduced new cartridges in its Winchester Short Magnum family, including the 7 mm WSM and 270 WSM. This new .270 cartridge was the third commercial .270 ever produced, and the first one in 60 years.
The 270 WSM is an improvement over the older 270 Winchester providing higher velocity with bullets of the same weight, and thus a flatter trajectory and more energy. Velocities tend to be about 250 ft/s (76 m/s) faster, in a cartridge that is shorter and can therefore be used in a shorter action for a more compact rifle if desired. The 270 WSM comes quite close in performance to that of the legendary .270 Weatherby Magnum. Except that the WSM is chambered in a short action and usually sports a 22″ to 24″ barrel where the Weatherby is usually chambered in rifles with a 26″ barrel.
Our 100% Hand-Loaded .270 WSM 130 grain Berger VLD-Hunting rounds are loaded with extremely tight tolerances, producing highly accurate, consistent and reliable performance with each and every shot! We feel our proprietary load formulas and loading process create the finest round of ammunition available on the commercial market today. If you don’t load your own ammunition- let us do it for you!
The Bullet-
The Berger VLD Hunting bullet line features Very Low Drag (VLD) bullets that have the highest possible ballistic coefficient designed for 300 yards or more, the design incorporates a sharp nose that allows the bullet to penetrate 2″ to 3″ before it starts to expand. After the initial expansion, the bullet will shed between 40% and 85% of its weight as shrapnel into the surrounding tissue (internal organs). The combination between the shrapnel and the hydrostatic shock produces a massive wound cavity within the vital area that will be 13″ – 15″ long. This massive wound cavity results in the animal dropping fast since most go into shock after such a tremendous blow. Those animals that don’t go down immediately will soon succumb to blood pressure loss and/or organ failure producing a quick ethical kill.

7mm-08 120 Grain Nosler Ballistic Tip~ The 7mm-08 Remington works in most hunting environments, including dense forest areas and large open fields. Of cartridges based upon the .308, it is the second most popular behind only the .243 Winchester. It has a flatter trajectory than the .308 Win. and .30-06 Springfield at similar bullet weights because the slightly smaller-diameter 7mm bullet generally has a better ballistic coefficient (BC), and is thus less affected by drag and crosswind while in flight. Its trajectory is comparable to the .270 Winchester.
Its recoil is a bit more than a .243 Win. and less than most loads in a .308 Win. This mild recoil makes it suitable for youth and adults who are new shooters; however, the cartridge serves experienced shooters and hunters equally well.
Choice Ammunition has taken our 100% hand-loading techniques and produce an extremely accurate, highly dependable round for the 7mm-08 in this load. Our loading tolerances are only matched by passionate hand-loaders in their own loading rooms. Consistent seating depths, powder charges and proprietary formulas of Choice Ammunition, make this 120 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip round the best you can buy on the commercial market today.
The Bullet-
Nosler’s Ballistic Tip Bullets are designed for violent expansion upon impact. The bullet is tipped with a polycarbonate tip which rapidly drives back forcing the thin jacket to expand and fragment. The heavy base prevents deformation during firing and the boat-tail design increases the ballistic efficiency of the bullet. These bullets deliver the accuracy, consistency and down-range punch required for clean kills in all situations. These flat-shooting, wind-defying bullets utilize ballistic-designed boat-tails and polymer tips to increase long-range efficiency and protect against tip damage in the magazine. Unique tapered jacket provides controlled expansion at all practical ranges and velocities.

.243 Winchester 95 Grain Berger VLD-Hunting~ The .243 Winchester (6×52mm) is a popular sporting rifle cartridge. Initially designed as a target/varmint round, it may be used for animals such as coyotes, blacktail deer, whitetail deer, mule deer, pronghorns, and wild hogs. It can also be used against larger animals such as black bears and elk but is sometimes said to be “too light” for such large animals. Rounds of at least 90 grains are better suited for hunting larger animals while rounds less than 90 grains are more suitable for varmints. The .243 is based on a necked down .308 cartridge case. It is very popular with target shooters, metallic silhouette, and long range shooters, because of its accuracy and low recoil. This cartridge was first introduced in 1955 for the Winchester Model 70 bolt-action and Model 88 lever-action sporting rifles and quickly gained popularity among sportsmen worldwide. Just about every major manufacturer offers rifles chambered in .243.

We do recommend a barrel twist of a minimum of 1/9 twist to stabilize this bullet!
