It is the second cartridge designed by Nosler. The name 28 Nosler refers to the first two digits in the caliber (0.284″) of the bullets that the cartridge fires and the name of the company which created it. The .28 Nosler is essentially a shortened version of the 7mm Remington Ultra Magnum.

The 28 Nosler is based on the 26 Nosler which was released in 2014. The 28 Nosler shares the same overall cartridge length (3.340″) as the 26 Nosler which allows it to be chambered in standard-length action. This feature helps weight-conscious sportsmen to lighten their load before venturing into the backcountry. The cases’ overall length also aid in quick follow-up shots, since the bolt throw is shorter than on a magnum action. All four of Nosler’s Cartridges the 26 Nosler, 28 Nosler, .30 Nosler, and the .33 Nosler are based on the same .404 Jeffery parent case. While the 26 and 28 Nosler share the same cartridge case dimensions, the 30 Nosler has a slightly shorter length to the shoulder dimension than the 26 and 28 and the 33 Nosler has a shorter shoulder dimension yet than that of the 30 Nosler.

    Through an exclusive bonding process that eliminates voids in the bullet core, Nosler AccuBond couples Nosler’s proven copper-alloy jacket with its special lead-alloy core. The result is a bullet that flies true, penetrates deep and retains its weight, without causing extensive barrel fouling. The unique white polymer tip resists deforming and initiates expansion on impact. Nosler’s Solid Base at the rear of the bullet acts as a platform for large diameter mushrooms.

    6.5 Creedmoor 143 Hornady ELD-X~ The 6.5mm Creedmoor, designated 6.5 Creedmoor by SAAMI, is a centerfire rifle cartridge introduced in 2007 as a modification of the .30 TC, which was based on the .308 Winchester. It was designed specifically for long-range target shooting, although it is also achieving success in game hunting. Bullet for bullet, the 6.5mm Creedmoor achieves a slower muzzle velocity than longer cartridges such as the 6.5-284 Norma or magnum cartridges such as the 6.5mm Remington Magnum.     The Bullet-

    The Heat Shield tip of the Hornady ELD-X bullet defies the effects of aerodynamic heating and retains its shape to provide a perfect meplat (tip) that is always the same shape. A streamlined secant ogive with optimum boattail design, plus the highly concentric AMP bullet jackets, combined with the patent pending Heat Shield tip creates a supremely accurate, high BC match bullet. ELD-Match bullet BCs are measured with Doppler radar and corrected to standard atmospheric conditions. With high velocity, 0-400 yard impact, the bullet continually expands throughout its penetration path. The thick shank of the jacket and high Interlock ring keep the core and jacket together providing 50-60% weight retention. Upon low velocity, 400+ yard impacts, the Heat Shield tip drives backward into the bullet to initiate expansion. Exhibiting conventional expansion with a large mushroom and 85-90% retained weight the bullet provides deep penetration and large wound cavities.

    .257 Weatherby Magnum 115 Grain Berger VLD-Hunting~ The .257 Weatherby Magnum is a .257 Caliber (6.35 mm) belted bottlenecked cartridge. It is one of the original standard length magnums developed by shortening the .375 H&H Magnum case to approx. 2.5 in (64 mm). Of the cartridges developed by Roy Weatherby in 1944, the .257 Weatherby Magnum was known to have been his favorite, and the cartridge currently ranks third in Weatherby cartridge sales, after the .30-378 Weatherby Magnum and the .300 Weatherby Magnum.

    The .257 Weatherby Magnum is among one of the flattest shooting commercial cartridges. The .257 Weatherby Magnum shares the same cartridge case as the .270 Weatherby Magnum and the 7mm Weatherby Magnum. The .30 Super Belted Rimless H&H manufactured by Winchester served as the direct parent cartridge for the case design. After the initial expansion, the bullet will shed between 40% and 85% of its weight as shrapnel into the surrounding tissue (internal organs).
