  • 27 Nosler 140 Grain Barnes TSX (Lead Free)-

How The 27 Nosler Outdoes Other .270s:

    • Based on the .404 Jeffery, its case has exceptional capacity.
    • It delivers greater velocity than even the gargantuan .270 Weatherby.
    • It’s extremely flat shooting and drops an incredible amount of energy on target.

Nosler has built quite a cartridge family, and it continues to grow. The newest addition announced at the 2020 SHOT Show is the 27 Nosler, which, as you might have guessed, is a .270 caliber. But like everything Nosler puts out, it’s a .270 caliber taken to the limits.

With the .404 Jeffery providing the parent case, the 27 Nosler outdoes the capacity of the iconic .270 Winchester by 42 percent, the .270 WSM by 25 percent and the .270 Weatherby by 12.5 percent. Given none of the existing cartridges—especially the latter two—are slouches in the velocity department, you can imagine what the extra powder does for the 27 Nosler’s performance. Sends it through the roof. Nosler’s stated goal in the 27 Nosler is to produce a more capable long-range hunting cartridge. Given the same 150-grain AccuBond bullet only drops 28-inches at 500 yards, it’s safe to say they might have done so with an extraordinary flat-shooting option. At the same tick, it also is a larger-diameter bullet than some of the more popular modern options—say the 6.5 Creedmoor. This means a bigger wound channel, as well as more energy on target. Again, at 500 yards and with a 150 AccuBond, it delivers 2,129 ft-lbs of energy, which is more than enough to wallop an elk—if you’re confident you can put it on the vitals.

Choice Ammunition has taken our 100% hand-loading techniques and produce an extremely accurate, highly dependable round for the 27 Nosler in this load. Our loading tolerances are only matched by passionate hand-loaders in their own loading rooms. Consistent seating depths, powder charges and proprietary formulas of Choice Ammunition, make this 140 Grain Barnes TSX Lead Free round the best you can buy on the commercial market today.

    The Bullet

Barnes’ most popular hunting bullet, the TSX™ Triple Shock® X-Bullet utilizes all-copper construction and innovative design to give you one of the deadliest, most dependable bullets you can buy. More than 20 years of copper bullet experience go into the TSX, delivering a bullet that gives you lower fouling, better accuracy, greater velocity and lower pressure. The TSX’s all copper construction delivers a lighter bullet than comparable lead core bullets, delivering higher velocities, flatter trajectories, and less recoil. This construction also delivers nearly 100% weight retention and produces surer, deeper penetration with its specially engineered nose cavity that peels back into four sharp-edged petals that cut through game. This specially designed nose cavity expands to double the bullet’s diameter almost immediately after impact at both high and low velocities, giving you a bullet that is as deadly on longer shots as it is at point blank range. The Triple-Shock X also features multiple precisely engineered rings cut into the bullet shank that serve as relief valves as the bullet travels down the bore. These rings give the bullet’s copper material a place to expand into under pressure, resulting in reduced pressures, less copper fouling, and better barrel harmonics for improved accuracy. Recommended by big game guides around the world. Made in USA.

    1. All copper bullet – lower fouling, better accuracy, greater velocity and lower pressure
    2. Lead-free
    3. Lighter weight – higher velocities, flatter trajectories, and less recoil
    4. Nearly 100% weight retention after penetration
    5. Specially engineered nose cavity peels back into four sharp-edged petals
    6. Petals double bullet’s diameter almost immediately after impact
    7. Bullet shank rings serve as relief valves for less fouling and better barrel harmonics
    8. Surer, deeper penetration than comparable lead core bullets

    Image result for eld-x bullets

The Heat Shield tip of the Hornady ELD-X bullet defies the effects of aerodynamic heating and retains its shape to provide a perfect meplat (tip) that is always the same shape. A streamlined secant ogive with optimum boattail design, plus the highly concentric AMP bullet jackets, combined with the patent pending Heat Shield tip creates a supremely accurate, high BC match bullet. ELD-Match bullet BCs are measured with Doppler radar and corrected to standard atmospheric conditions. With high velocity, 0-400 yard impact, the bullet continually expands throughout its penetration path. The thick shank of the jacket and high Interlock ring keep the core and jacket together providing 50-60% weight retention. Upon low velocity, 400+ yard impacts, the Heat Shield tip drives backward into the bullet to initiate expansion. Exhibiting conventional expansion with a large mushroom and 85-90% retained weight the bullet provides deep penetration and large wound cavities.

    The Bullet-

The Berger VLD design incorporates a sharp nose that allows the bullet to penetrate 2″ to 3″ before it starts to expand. After the initial expansion, the bullet will shed between 40% and 85% of its weight as shrapnel into the surrounding tissue (internal organs). The combination between the shrapnel and the hydrostatic shock produces a massive wound cavity within the vital area that will be 13″ – 15″ long. This massive wound cavity results in the animal dropping fast since most go into shock after such a tremendous blow. Those animals that don’t go down immediately will soon succumb to blood pressure loss and/or organ failure producing a quick ethical kill.

    The Bullet–

Through an exclusive bonding process that eliminates voids in the bullet core, AccuBond couples Nosler’s proven copper-alloy jacket with its special lead-alloy core. The result is a bullet that flies true, penetrates deep and retains its weight, without causing extensive barrel fouling. The unique white polymer tip resists deforming and initiates expansion on impact. Nosler’s Solid Base at the rear of the bullet acts as a platform for large diameter mushrooms.

270 Caliber 170 Grain Extreme Outer Limits (EOL) Elite Hunter Rifle Bullet

EOL Elite Hunters were developed through a partnership with Berger and Extreme Outer Limits TV. These Rifle Bullets break the trend-line for today’s heavy hunting Rifle Bullets and are designed for extreme long range huntins situations, typically with custom rifle applications. Elite Hunter Rifle Bullets utilize Berger’s industry-leading hybrid ogive, which blends tangent and secant designs to optimize efficiency, reduce wind-drift, and minimize sensitivity to seating depth. Elite Hunter Rifle Bullets are identical in construction, shape and performance to the Berger Hybrid Target series, except they utilize a thinner J4 Precision Jacket for rapid expansion on game animals. Elite Hunters are designed to penetrate 2-3″ and then begin to expand and create a massive wound cavity up to 15″. The hydrostatic shock causes most animals to drop immediately.

    The Bullet:

    .270 CALIBER 175 GR. TGK

Sierra’s new 175 gr Tipped GameKing is designed to be tough and used for heavy duty hunting work. It will hit like a hammer on big game from the great 270 Winchester as well as be right at home in any magnum cartridge. It will use a 1-8” or faster twist rate to stabilize because of its long length, but the BC’s are also extremely high because of that. The higher BC’s make it very efficient in flight so it will give a high impact velocity at distance.

This bullet requires a barrel twist rate of 1×8” or faster.
