  • .357 Magnum 158 grain Flat Point- These Plated Flat Point Bullets are swaged and plated to final weight and re-struck for accuracy and precision.  This premium, precise plating not only reduces the amount of lead exposure during shooting, it also helps keep your bore much cleaner. The flat point design minimizes expansion and the keeps the bullet traveling straight even through heavy hide and bone. The Flat Point also makes a good choice for target practice, well suited for deep straight line penetration.

    • Velocity 1,200 FPS
    • 100% Hand Loaded

With performance similar to our standard ammunition, these rounds are dependable, accurate and affordable enough for practice.

Question: What is the difference between Plated/Jacketed/Cast bullets?
    • Our bullets begin as a swaged lead core. The plating process works through electrolysis as the lead cores are tumbled in an electrically charged bath containing high-grade copper ingots. The copper clings to the lead and the longer the bullets remain in the bath, the thicker the plating. Our bullets are plated to the correct size and then taken out of the bath.
    • Jacketed bullets start with a copper cup, which is “drawn up” into the form of a jacket. Lead is then swaged into the jacket.
Question: How thick is the “jacket” on your bullets?
    • Depending upon the caliber, the thickness of the plating on our bullets, ranges from 3.5 up to 8 thousandths of an inch of plating on each side. This is thicker than paper and ensures no lead in your bore. The bullets designed for higher velocities (45-70, 500 S&W etc.) have the thickest plating.

We use a unique heat-set “HI-TEK Supercoat” manufactured in Australia, where it has been used for more than 20 years. The Hi-Tek Supercoat Bullet Coating totally encapsulates the lead projectiles and replaces standard wax lube.
Hi-Tek Supercoat bullets are safe to shoot indoors.  The coating gives off no toxic out-gassing or particulate matter when fired. The coating is absolutely non abrasive and contains no PTFE or MOLY. There is no wax lube and it minimizes your exposure to lead. The end result is cleaner air, cleaner hands, cleaner equipment and cleaner guns!
Check out a video of the Hi-Tek coating process here and see why you might want us to do it for you (but it’s worth it)!!

  • .357 Magnum 158 Grain Semi-Wadcutter (SWC)~The .357 S&W Magnum, or simply .357 Magnum, is a revolver cartridge with a .357-inch bullet diameter. It was created by Elmer Keith, Phillip B. Sharpe, and D. B. Wesson of firearms manufacturers Smith & Wesson and Winchester. It is based upon Smith & Wesson’s earlier .38 Special cartridge. The .357 Magnum cartridge was introduced in 1934, and its use has since become widespread. This cartridge started the “Magnum era” of handgun ammunition.

Choice Ammunition produces range, hunting, cowboy action and self defense rounds in the .357 Magnum. Our 100% hand-loading process produces the most reliable, safe and accurate round on the commercial market today.

The .357 Magnum cartridge is notable for its highly effective terminal ballistics when used for hunting or defense. This cartridge is regarded by many as an excellent hunting, metallic silhouette and self-defense round. With proper loadings it can also be effective against large or dangerous game, such as bear and ungulates, however many consider the larger magnum calibers to be more appropriate such as the .500 Smith & Wesson, .50 Action Express, .44 Magnum, .454 Casull, .41 Magnum as well as other larger magnum rounds. Comparatively, the .357 Magnum has less energy than the larger magnum revolver loadings but is smaller in diameter with high velocity allowing for excellent penetration properties. It is a fine small- and medium-game round and is sufficient to hunt deer at reasonable ranges if suitable loadings are used by a competent marksman. For further comparison, the .357 Magnum has a higher velocity at 100 yards than its parent .38 Special has at the muzzle. The 357 Magnum’s effectiveness on game is similar to that of the .45 Colt, but with a much flatter trajectory due to its higher velocity. It is a very versatile cartridge, and can be used with success for self-defence, plinking, hunting, or target shooting.

    The Bullet:

.357 Magnum 158 Grain Semi-Wadcutter (SWC)~ A bullet design that used to rule the roost but today is certainly underutilized is the semi wadcutter. The semiwadcutter is something of a middle ground between hard bullets such as full metal jacket and hard-cast rounds and softer and expanding rounds such as soft-cast and hollow point rounds.A Semi-Wadcutter bullet perfect for target shooting and plinking. The nose and sharp should allow the bullet to punch a clean hole through paper targets making scoring simple and precise.

A semi-wadcutter or SWC is a type of all-purpose bullet commonly used in revolvers. The SWC combines features of the wadcutter target bullet and traditional round nosed revolver bullets, and is used in cartridges for hunting, target shooting, and plinking.

20 rounds of .357 Magnum grain Hornady XTP Defense rounds.

Hornady XTP bullets were designed for hunting, self-defense, and law enforcement. One of the great things about the XTP bullet is reliable performance, it features controlled expansion where six serrations divide the bullet into six symmetrical sections. These sections weaken the jacket to allow controlled expansion at low velocities and ensures fragmentation does not occur at high velocities. The XTP bullet is really known for its stopping power.
